Tabriz Friday Imam: Strait of Hormuz Exposed US Economic Weakness — Iran Has Yet to Unveil Its Hidden Capabilities

The Friday prayer leader of Tabriz, Hojatoleslam Ahmad Motahhari-Asl, said the consequences of the Strait of Hormuz go far beyond fuel price hikes in the United States, exposing weaknesses across the US economy, and warned that Iran has still not revealed its full capabilities.

Hawzah News Agency- Motahhari-Asl said the enemy imagined threats could push the Iranian nation out of the scene and force officials to retreat, "but it was heedless of the reality that Iran is the country of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and a nation of martyrdom." He stressed that Iranians have never given in to enemy threats and will continue to resist based on their religious faith.

He said the enemy, having failed on various fronts, now places its hopes more on creating divisions inside the country and intensifying economic pressure to dishearten the people than on the military arena. "The enemies hope that by fanning internal disputes and increasing economic pressure they can push people out of the scene and weaken the nation's will, but the people's deep faith and steadfastness will prevent their goals from being realized."

He pointed to international media coverage of repeated threats and retreats by the US president, saying "the enemy's weakness has become evident to global public opinion, and major world media have covered these developments in recent days."

Unity and Cohesion

Hojatoleslam Motahhari-Asl stressed the need to preserve national unity and cohesion, saying "internal solidarity and the people's resistance against enemy pressure are among the key factors behind the failure of plots aimed at weakening the country and disheartening the Iranian nation."

Strait of Hormuz and US Economic Weakness

The Tabriz Friday prayer leader said the impact of the Strait of Hormuz on the US goes beyond fuel prices, exposing the economic weakness of America and the arrogant powers, with various economic sectors — from banks and stock markets to agriculture and shipping — facing problems.

"The impact of the Strait of Hormuz is not limited to higher prices for gasoline, diesel, and oil, but has brought broader consequences for the US economy and the arrogant powers," he said. "Oil reserves that had been accumulated are now being consumed, and these countries face growing shortages every day, with problems spreading to various economic sectors, including banks, stock markets, agriculture, and shipping."

He noted that it had already been said the issue is not limited to closing the Strait of Hormuz and that there are other straits and options. "America must know that it cannot, on the one hand, threaten the heroic Iranian nation with destruction and, on the other, claim readiness for negotiations — such an approach is nothing but self-mockery."

US Threats Dismissed

Motahhari-Asl criticized threats by US officials against Iran, saying America should not imagine that shouting, threats, and insults against the Iranian nation and civilization can frighten the people. "Some of these remarks are made for electoral purposes, but the Iranian nation does not take these threats seriously."

Recalling the eight-year imposed war, he said Saddam attacked Iran with the support of major powers including the US, Western countries, and the former Soviet Union, "but the Iranian nation stood against it and forced powers greater than today's threateners to retreat."

He stressed that Iranians will not accept humiliation: "One cannot, on the one hand, insult and show audacity toward the Iranian nation and, on the other, seek a channel for negotiation and compromise every day. The Iranian nation follows the school of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and Lady Fatima Zahra (PBUH) and does not accept humiliation."

Warning to Trump and Netanyahu

Addressing US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Hojatoleslam Motahhari-Asl said "Iran still has many capabilities and capacities that it has not unveiled." He said the arrogant powers imagine nations are powerless before threats and can be dominated through noise and pressure, "while they have not resolved their own problems and weaknesses."

He warned: "If the Islamic Republic of Iran is placed in danger and it is felt that the country's territorial integrity is threatened, the interests of America and the Israeli regime throughout the region, as well as the interests of their supporting countries, will be threatened within the framework of Iran's response."

Economic Concerns

Motahhari-Asl urged officials to pay serious attention to the people's economic problems, saying they must work harder than before and prioritize controlling inflation and reining in high prices through effective measures and practical action. "Supporting the system and officials in wartime conditions does not negate the need for redoubled efforts to improve the people's economic and livelihood situation, and government officials must play a role, as far as possible, in controlling inflation and reducing economic pressure."

Energy Management

Hojatoleslam Motahhari-Asl stressed the need to manage energy consumption, saying Iran faces shortages in electricity, gas, and especially gasoline, and that both the government and the people must work to manage the situation during wartime. "What matters is that, with the cooperation of the government and the people, energy consumption is managed so that no problems arise for the people, especially residents of remote areas, in the winter."

He emphasized that saving electricity, gas, and gasoline is a necessity and that everyone must cooperate to get through the winter without difficulty.
